Counseling and Guidance in Liberty

Rationale:
The counseling curriculum in Liberty Public School provides our students with opportunities to make responsible decisions now, and in the future, in a knowledgeable, thoughtful and resilient manner. LPS counselors guide students through sequential units that allow for practice and feedback on decision making skills that students will use in all aspects throughout life.

 

 

Goals for Graduates:

LPS Students will:

  • Understand their role as a contributing member of society
  • Develop quality relationships based on understanding and respect
  • Act as their own best advocate by recognizing threats to personal safety and using coping strategies as needed
  • Believe in their ability to achieve academic goals and understand when and where to receive assistance as needed
  • Understand the increasing expectations of teachers and courses throughout their various transitions
  • Set learning goals as part of an individual education/career plan with the ability to continually review and modify plans
  • Explore skills required in the work environment
  • Seek information on education and training required for specific career choices
  • Develop skills that contribute to high quality work performance

How Do We Accomplish This?

Liberty Elementary School Counselors work to meet the social, emotional and academic needs of our students in a number of ways. Through classroom lessons, we teach a variety of skills.

Liberty Public Schools recognizes the importance of good communication and good working relationships between students, parents, and the school.
